According to legend; Aielo de Malferit, a small town in Spain is where Coca-Cola originated.
The original factory Aielo's Fabrica de Licores dates back to 1880 founded by Bautista Aparici, Ricardo Sanz, and Enrique Ortiz.
Supposedly it was here that the original formula was developed which inspired the best selling soda in the world Coca-Cola.
Aparici, who was in charge of sales was traveling to trade fairs in Rome, Paris London and Chicago.
It is believed that in 1885 he went to Philadelphia with a new beverage called Kola Coca.
Kola Coca was made from the caffeine-rich fruit of African kola nut trees and the leaves of Peruvian coca plants.
The beverage promptly scooped an innovation prize.
Aparici gave some samples to sales representatives.
Coincidentally a year later US pharmacist John Pemberton made history when he invented Coca-Cola.
In 1953 Coca-Cola executives visited provincial Spain and acquired the rights to the name from
Joaquin Juan Sanchis who was then the owner.
Kola Coca was allowed to continue manufacturing the alcoholic version of the beverage and ever since Nuez de Kola Coca liquor has been.
